Why blame Obama?
Why is President Obama being blamed for the bad economy that was started during the Bush years? Where were all of the job creators during this period that House Speaker John Boehner keeps talking about and who also didn’t create jobs during the Bush or Obama years?
Speaker Boehner says we have a spending problem that started during the last couple of years that is bringing this country down. This country was on the brink of disaster because of two foreign wars created by the Bush administration. Boehner was in a position of responsibility during all of these years and has voted to bankrupt this country and he still claims that Obama is the cause of jobless Americans.
The Republicans also claim that Obama is creating class warfare on the rich by asking that they pay the same percentage of income tax that they paid during the Clinton years. The Republicans remember how bad the Clinton years were but forget that the United States was not only paying down the deficit they were also expanding employment opportunities for Americans.
How can the Republicans be proud of their actions in voting down every jobs bill that the president has proposed that would have given jobs to teachers, policemen, firemen and building contractors.
Why is there so much grandstanding and back slapping going on by the Republicans who haven’t found a camera or microphone that they didn’t like. You would think that they would use these opportunities to create jobs rather than their own self promotion.

America’s first National Anthem
I’ve written a number of articles to the Citizen, most of which have been to complain about an injustice or to solve a problem affecting all of us. But, this time it’s to ask a simple question.
How many of you out there know what the title of our first National Anthem might be. If you do let me know through your letters to the Citizen. It’s one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written and music being my major in college, I should know. It was written by the first professional musician in the United States. He was born in 1746 and died in 1800. A true patriot who wrote many pieces of great music during the Revolution. His name is William Billings and the first National Anthem was “CHESTER.” Go to YouTube or Google chrome and you will find it. I’m for going back to “Chester.”

Be aware of lung cancer

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month, a time when we dedicate ourselves to increasing awareness and knowledge of the issues surrounding lung cancer.
The American Cancer Society (ACS) reports that nearly 85 percent of all lung cancer cases in the United States are smoking related and 30 percent of all cancer deaths.
About six out of 10 people with lung cancer die within a year of being diagnosed, and the expected five-year survival rate for people with lung cancer is just 16 percent.
These numbers are frightening, yet it’s estimated that over 43 million Americans are current smokers.
There are many researchers, physicians, pharmacists and other healthcare providers who are dedicated to finding better ways to diagnose and treat lung cancer, and there are many studies in progress right now that offer hope to patients battling the disease and their families. But the fact remains—the best way to defeat lung cancer is to prevent it.
So, please help in the fight against lung cancer by quitting smoking, encouraging your friends, family and neighbors to quit smoking, and speaking with your children about not smoking.  By reducing the number of people who smoke, we will ultimately reduce the number of lung cancer deaths each year.
