Ladies luncheon will include a fashion show

-A A +A
By Nancy Archer

We would like to fill the clubhouse for next month’s luncheon on Wednesday, May 13, at noon.  We are having a fashion show.   If you are one of our models, please be sure to stop by the Second Chance Consignment shop in the Jasmine Plaza.  Ask for Peggy so that she can get your size.  Please come out and join us.  It will be a great day. Just bring a covered dish to share. Also, we need to have some new people take over so that we can continue to have our monthly luncheons.  If interested, please call Nancy at 861-1432.

Christmas in July

Craft Show

The Christmas in July Craft Show will be Saturday, July 11, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cherrywood crafters participating this year are: Dorothy Pickett, silk flowers; Jackie and Larry George, nylon mesh flowers; Edna Fazio and Aprile Guglielmi, jewelry; Stevie Pickrell, sewing, knitted and crocheted items; Barbara Buehler, painted gourds; Nestor Garcia, jewelry and Lorraine Garcia, baskets.

The Quilt Club will have a lot of surprises.

The following outside vendors will be attending: "Grannie Annie" Anne Stumpf, fabric covered note cards; Gerald Critz, stained glass, slumped glass and fused glass; Carole and Virgil Fittje, handcrafted decorative soaps.

I am expecting a few more crafters to sign up and that will give us a full house. Our very own Richard Becotte will be playing Christmas music to get everyone in the holiday mood. If you would like to participate in the craft show,  just give Geri a call at 237-1675.

Arthritis Aquatics

All exercises are conducted in water to minimize joint stress. The exercises are designed to improve range of motion, conditioning and provide recreation. Classes will be held: June 4, 6, 9, 11, 16, 18, 23, 25 and 30; July 2, 9 and 11. Rain dates: classes will be held on Saturdays. The class is conducted by Herbert Alvarado, a certified arthritis instructor. There is a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 15 participants per class. There will be 12 classes at $1.50 each for a total of $18. Please pay for your classes in advance. Payment is non-refundable after class 3 (June 9). Please contact Geri at 237-1675 for more information or if you are interested in participating in these classes.

Water aerobics

Water aerobics is back with Anne McMurrer. Classes begin Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9 a.m. June 1, will be her first class.

Blood drive

A blood drive is on Thursday, May 21, from 7:30 a.m. to noon. You can have a "mini physical" free. When you give blood you have the following checked: cholesterol level, blood glucose and iron level.

Monthly breakfast

Our last breakfast will be Saturday, May 16, from 8 a.m. to 9:15 a.m. The menu is: scrambled eggs, sausage, fruit cup, orange juice, coffee or tea and we will have a toast table. You can’t beat the price, still only $3. We are still looking for a new crew leader.

Democratic Club

The Cherrywood Democratic Club has an open meeting on Friday, May 15, at 2 p.m. in the Clubhouse card room. All Cherrywood residents are welcome. Refreshments will be served.

The ladies of the Crochet Club are making helmet liners to be sent to our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and they are greatly appreciated. We can all make a contribution to our men and women; our family needs us, so please show your support. We were pleased that our club was able to donate $60 to the S.O.S and an individual member donated $30 to help with postage. Voter registration cards are available, so if you know of anyone who is not registered or wishes to change party affiliation, we are able to make the changes.

The Cherrywood Democratic Club meets on the third Friday of each month at 2 p.m. in the clubhouse card room. Harriet Scarpino, president, 873-9955
