Members of Peace Lutheran Church are making preparations for the 5th Annual God and Country Celebration.  The celebration will take place on Sunday, July 5.

The 10 a.m. worship service will be followed by rides, climbing rock, water slides, games and other activities for children and adults.  Lunch of hot dogs, hamburgers, chips and soda will be served. The community is invited to share this day honoring God and our Country, with worship, fun, relaxation and fellowship.  There is no charge.  Bring your family and friends.

Peace Lutheran Church is located five miles north of downtown Dunnellon, on the northeast corner of US 41 and SR 40, 489-5881 for additional information or directions.

Not a hand out,

but a hand up

With all the problems in the economy trying to buy groceries had become a hardship on everyone. But with Angel Food Ministries there is relief. There are no restrictions on who can purchase or how many units you can purchase. The regular box offers assorted grocery items, which will feed a family of four for one week or a senior for a month, with the cost being only $30. It would typically cost about $60 in a retail store. There is also a senior or “people-on-the-go” box which is portion-controlled, nutritionally balanced and low in sodium for $28. If you purchase either of these boxes then you can purchase additional specials for $16 to $22. These consist of meats, fruits and vegetables. Stop by between 9 a.m. and noon, Monday through Thursday, the first two weeks of every month as well as the second Wednesday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Red Level Baptist Church 11025 W Dunnellon Road, Crystal River or call 795-2086. You can view the month’s menu at angelfoodministries.com or come to the office for a copy.

Ladies in

Fellowship Together

If childcare is desired, please call the church office so that plans may be appropriately cared for. LIFT meets the third Tuesday night of every month at 6:45 p.m. For more information concerning this delightful ministry, please e-mail Cindy Greaves at women@caringpeople.org.

Rainbow Springs Village Church is at 20222 S.W. 102nd St. Road, Dunnellon (just south of Winn Dixie and west of U.S. 41). For more information, contact the Church at 489-0249 or at www.caringpeople.org.

Box tops for education

The Altar and Rosary Women’s Society of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church is continuing its community project by collecting Box Tops for Education and Campbell Soup labels to be donated to one of our local Dunnellon schools. Just cut the box top emblem and/or Campbell UPC emblem and place them in the container at Winn Dixie, Ace Hardware or Sun Trust Bank in Dunnellon or at St. John’s church or mail them to: 12591 S.E. 137 Court, Dunnellon, FL 34431. For more information, call Judie at 489-5954. Riverland Baptist Church

We started a new Nursing Home Ministry in November. We are meeting with the residents at the Woodlawn Terrace in Beverly Hills each Sunday from 3 to 4 p.m. the first and third Sunday of each month. We are praying that God will give us the chance to get there more often in the future. Bonnie and Butch Roloson and their family are heading this ministry. They hope to involve others from our church who are willing to come out on a Sunday afternoon.

If we do the work and lead folks to Christ, we reap the benefits of living in a better world.
