Retired Army Lt. Colonel Charles Wesley Wilson Sr., 87, died on April 27, 2011 peacefully at his residence. He was born June 1, 1923 in Pittsburgh, Pa., to Charles and Vermell Wilson.
Charles retired from the army, serving over 25 years. Following his army career, he worked for the New York State Division of Human Rights. He then worked and retired from Eastman Kodak.
He married Genevieve Howard on July 6, 1946 in Pittsburgh, Pa. After retiring, they moved to Ocala in 1993. He is survived by his wife, Genevieve; son, Charles W. Wilson Jr.; grandchildren, Charles W Wilson III and Genevieve Carole Wilson; great-grandchildren, Trina Carole Wilson and Charles Grant Wilson.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Amos.
A funeral service was Thursday, May 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. with an hour of visitation preceding the funeral service at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services – Timberridge, 9695 S.W. 110th Street. Burial with full military honors followed at 1:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
