Blown away by yard sale bargains

-A A +A
By Deej Koebbe

Just down the road apiece the wind huffed and puffed but couldn’t blow away the spirited attitude of the many Spruce Creek Preserve Yard Sale vendors who braved the elements this past Saturday during the community’s annual yard sale.

By the looks of the many interested customers, the wind was only an annoyance and not a challenge at all. Just goes to show you that yard sale enthusiasts can’t be deterred in their quest for a bargain, no matter what.

The vendors and customers alike seemed to take the weather in their stride, both holding on for dear life when a hardy gust of wind just wouldn’t let up.

Reminds me of the Christmas tent sales Joe and I used to have for Divine Providence Thrift Store. The last year we had one, we not more than got the tent up and merchandise on the tables when a strong wind with heavy rain came up and merchandise started flying.

We grabbed what we could and ran for shelter as the tent collapsed. What a sight – all the volunteers running every which-way – those were the days!
