Albert W. (Bill) Stotz passed away Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 at Legacy House in Ocala. Bill was born in Buffalo, N.Y., August 28, 1924. He served in WW II as T/Sgt for Squadron B 4126th Base Unit (Area Command) from September, 1943 to October, 1945.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Rita; sons, Bill (Pam), Carl (Penny); daughter, Christine; granddaughters, Jennifer, Melissa (David) and Shelly (Edward); great-grandsons, Jayson, Gradon, and Gavin; great-granddaughter, Kathyrn; brothers, Richard (Rhea) and Paul (Cynthia); 7 surviving nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert W. and Grace C. Stotz; and brother, Robert.
He retired from Western Electric after 38 years as an Orbit supervisor and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. While residing in Buffalo, he was a competitive handball player throughout Western New York and Pennsylvania. After moving to Ocala, he was an active member of the Oak Run travel club and involved in many activities. He was also a member of the VFW Post 8734781 and American Legion Post 0400 in Ocala. He was recently selected and traveled to Washington, D.C. as a member of the Honor Flight.
A small memorial service will be Monday, Nov. 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Joy Lutheran Church. Pastor Ed Holloway will officiate. An extended family service will be held in Strykersville, N.Y. in July 2012, followed by interment at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice (Legacy House) at 9505 S.W. 110th St., Ocala, FL 34481.
Neptune Society, Summerfield was in charge of arrangements.
