Fall is coming. Actually a lot of falls have just started and more are coming. Football season has started with college, high school, and exhibition professional games already being played for several weeks.
Follow the ball as it gets passed down Pun Alley’s own football field. We make it through the goal posts and sometimes the pun police throw the flag.

The NFC and AFC champions were crowned nearly two weeks ago. Their preparation is almost complete for Sunday’s Super Bowl to be held in Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Comments about both the Green Bay Packers and Pittsburgh Steelers, as well as other teams, both professional and college, have made their way to the mini football game held down the middle of Pun Alley.

You've got to be a little older than some of the average football viewers to understand the term "hook and lateral."
In the days when I was coming of age as a football fan (back in the dark ages, as my kids would say), teams ran a play where the wide receiver came inside from lining up wide and stopped and faced the quarterback. The pattern was called a buttonhook. Get it? Hook!

Will take effect this fall

New football districts proposed

The Florida High School Athletic Association has created new classifications for high school football, creating a new rural school classification and going all the way up to Class 8A for bigger schools.

Here are the new districts proposed for Marion County:

Class 7A, District 1: Gainesville Buchholz, Tallahassee Chiles, Ocala Forest, Tallahassee Lincoln, Ocala West Port.

Class 6A, District 5: Inverness Citrus, Gainesville High, Ocala Lake Weir, Leesburg, Ocala Vanguard, Lecanto.
